UNTITLED (HAMMERS)

40cm x 44cm x 17/24cm (variable)

wood, ceramic, music box

Once you start turning the crank, the hammers, their replicas, will mark a monotonous and cadent beat that follows the time of the repetitive music that sounds inside. The fragility of hammers represents a second temporality that, far from being cyclical like the first one, exposes them to break by successive blows, and highlights the passage of time, far from the time proper to the work.
